Founded in 1968 in Dallas, Texas, the Texas Longhorns Soccer Club is the oldest select soccer club in Texas and the Southwest. The club was established as a 501c.3, or non-profit, organization. The club continues its philosophy of developing individual players within a team framework while playing in the most competitive leagues available in the Dallas metroplex. The Texas Longhorns Soccer Club has fielded teams for boys since 1968 and for girls since 1989. In fact, the Texas Longhorns Soccer Club was the first select soccer club in the area to successfully add girls’ teams to an established boys’ club organization. TLSC has strived to field teams for both boys’ and girls’ sides in the U11 through the U19 age groups. In the spirit of on going growth and development of our players, the club offers year-round training, both indoor and outdoor matches, and travel to tournaments throughout the United States and abroad. Soccer in the North Texas State Soccer Association is among the most competitive in the United States, and we feel this atmosphere enhances our soccer program and the players who emerge from it.
The Texas Longhorns Soccer Club (TLSC) has won numerous local league and tournament championships, the North Texas State Cup Championship, the USYSA Southern Regional Championship, and USYSA National Championship placement. TLSC teams have competed in the McGuire Cup, the Niotis Cup, and the Dallas Cup. The U19 TLSC Girls won the National Championship in 1992, 1993, 1997 and also finished in the final four. In 1999, the ’83 TLSC Boys won the State Cup Championship, the Southern Regional Championship, and placed third in the National Championship. In 2000, the ’82 TLSC Boys won the State Cup Championship and were second in the Southern Regional Championship. Additionally, the ‘92 boys have taken first place in Division I of the Chamber Classic Soccer League for the last two years and the ‘94 boys (U16) have finished in the top five every year since U11.
As a result of our travels, the Texas Longhorns Soccer Club founded the Dallas Cup, Inc., which has become the most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in the USA. The Dallas Cup celebrated its 31st anniversary in 2010. TLSC saw the Dallas Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament as an opportunity to repay the many countries that had served as hosts on our journeys abroad. Now rated as the top international youth soccer tournament for boys and young men in the world, the Dallas Cup takes place each year from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday on fields at Pizza Hut Park and the CCSAI fields at Richland College. TLSC has been proudly represented in the Dallas Cup by the TLSC 94 Boys team, in the U12, U14 and U15 divisions. Coached by Bonny Forzi, this team won the U12 Division of Dallas Cup XXVII .
The Texas Longhorns Soccer Club also founded and hosts the Spring Classic Girls Invitation Tournament every Easter weekend. 2010 is the 19th edition of this combination tournament and showcase which draws U10 through U19 girls from throughout the United States. The Spring Classic is a major source of income for TLSC. Visit the Spring Classic website at www.springclassic.net or through the link on our home page to learn more about this tournament.
The Texas Longhorns Soccer Club is a family experience. In addition to regular practices, scrimmages, league and tournament play, our families participate in several all-Club events including the Classic Soccer Series Tournaments [Summer Classic, Winter Classic and Spring Classic], all-club functions such as our picnic, camps, open skills sessions and the Academy, for players U5 – U10.
More than soccer skills, techniques, and tactics, our program teaches hard work, discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, commitment, and a sense of community spirit while establishing friendships that for many are life long.
